Charmed, I'm sure!

Charmed Knits blog is having a knit-a-long for Harry Potter fans. I am actually not a true fan. I am almost afraid to admit that I have never read a Harry Potter book. I have seen several movies. My boys have read most of them. My Goddaughter is a TRUE fan (I got her the boxed set of the first 4 some years ago).

I just like to knit hats and I've always wanted to join a Knit-A-Long. But, generally, the knit-a-longs I run into are for fancy, elegant shawls and such. Since I love to knit hats and give them away, this one seemed perfect. (The suggested charity for the hats at the Charmed Knits blog is Warm Woolies).

Check out Charmed Knits and see what everyone else is doing while they wait for the new book and the movie.

You're not alone. I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books either, although I have seen all the movies. TMK is a big fan of the books, though.

Oh, I'm a true Harry Potter fan (who said fanatic? Did I hear someone say fanatic?)! Even as an adult, the books are still just so much fun, and the characters are so engaging. Really much better than the movies (there it was again... fanatic? Not me).

My first ever "real" project after I learned to knit (you know, going out and buying yarn with a pattern and an end result in mind, not just plugging away at whatever yarn and needles you got from whomever taught you) was an attempt at a "trapped bars" Gryffindor scarf. It came out terribly, probably the result of me just trying to design it myself and not use a real pattern.

At any rate, I love the hat! The Harry Potter world is so full of fun things to knit! Have you done anything else?

True Confession: I am a librarian and I have not read Harry Potter. Nor do I care to. I saw part of the first movie.

I'm glad so many people do like it, though. Whatever keeps people reading and thinking and imagining and inquiring is good enough for me!
