Best of the Hat Trio pictures

Actually, I will be making one more 'manly' hat - but I have finished these three! :) There is a group on Ravelry.com that is knitting hats for the Seamen's Church for the Christmas at Sea program. The hats are collected all year long and sent out to the Seamen at Christmas time.
The Group on Ravelry is called Knit 4 Lent. The challenge was 4000 hats in 40 days. My three (plus one more I will make!) will be added to the ones made by others to help the Seamen's Church achieve their goal.
The hat on the left is made with Patons Shetland Chunky Tweeds in the Dark Forest Green colorway. Hard to tell, but it is a deep, deep green, not black. I just cast on a number divisible by 4 and did a 2x2 ribbing to the decreases at the top.
The hat in the middle is made with KnitPicks Wool of the Andes (worsted) in the Snickerdoodle colorway. I cast on 108 on size US7 circulars and did a 2x2 ribbing for 8 or 10 rows and then used the Andalusian Stitch (Sept 16 in the 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar) and did 8 decrease ribs.
The hat at the right is made with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky in a dark charcoal colorway. Typical beanie style hat on size US9 circulars.
I'm stash diving for man-colored, wooly yarn to make the final submission. I keep running into sock yarn and lace weight and fingering and hand-dyed and baby stuff... I know I have more manly stuff somewhere! Just.need.to.dig.deeper!

I wish you luck - manly yarns are one thing I don't have - nor especially want. If i want to make something for dad, I either have to hope I have something neutral, or go out and get something :)
I have that calendar - i'm going to have to check that Andalusian stitch - looks interesting!
What wonderful hats.... thanks for leaving the link. I would like to make a few to send. I made a hat called Rib a Roni. I think it was on Ravelry. It is a nice manly hat.
